Siaolan + Matt had planned a Union League wedding and reception for May of this year and … we all know how that went. After initially rescheduling for July, it became clear that any plans for a big traditional affair would not be happening this summer. That’s when The Logan came to the rescue. The events team at The Logan put their heads together to come up with a courtyard micro-wedding package — FREE for select couples whose weddings were affected by the pandemic. And Siaolan and Matt were lucky enough to be one of the chosen few.
So on the summer solstice — a very warm and humid June day — these two and about a dozen of their nearest and dearest gathered in the courtyard while their wider guest list watched via Zoom broadcast. Under a gorgeous arch of vines and peonies by Robertson’s, Matt and Siaolan finally got to say “I Do.” After a round of congratulations and group photos, we took off for other points across the city, including a pit-stop for Sour Patch Kids and a visit to the steps of the Union League — where they had originally planned to be married.
As with so many weddings these days, it wasn’t the event these two had been planning on for months, but it came together in such a special and memorable way, despite all odds. Stay tuned for Part II of my Summer Solstice Wedding Adventure!
