When Allison moved to Washington, DC to start her nursing career at Georgetown Hospital, Kevin had already established himself as an integral part of the 4-member rotation at center on the Villanova Alumni flag football team and as a savvy beyond his years third base coach on the softball team. Allison, with her typical outgoing demeanor, burst onto the alumni sports scene and made an impression on the team. Given his south of the Mason-Dixon nature, Kevin was a bit slower to have that same impression register, but Allison’s stunning intellect, bright smile, and penchant for cavalier baserunning became impossible to ignore!
Early on in their relationship, Kevin and Allison each made a bucket list of things they wanted to do while living in Washington DC. At the top of Allison’s list was waking up early to watch the sun rise over the monuments. In September of 2017, Kevin told Allison that he planned a perfect birthday date for her. (He was right.) They would wake up early to go to the Lincoln Memorial to watch the sunrise, and then would grab brunch afterwards. After watching a stunning sunrise, Kevin and Allison walked to brunch, which conveniently lead them right by the softball field where they first met. It was on that field that Kevin proposed to Allison, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Since Allison and Kevin met playing alumni softball, it was only fitting that they wed at their alma mater, Villanova University, and had a quick toss during their portrait session — gloves and all! After the always-beautiful ceremony at the campus chapel, we struck out for such Villanova landmarks as The Oreo, the Whispering Arches, and the brand new bridge over Lancaster Ave — all while dodging the rain. By the time we got to The Manor House at Commonwealth for photos, the rain was in full force. Luckily it’s a beautiful venue whether it’s raining or not, and we had plenty of photo opportunities even as it poured — and of course the chance for a few rainy night photos as well.
