It’s been a long winter since Katie + Phil’s New Year’s Day wedding. I was so happy to greet the true start of wedding season on Good Friday — nay, BEST Friday — with Erin + Bob at the William Penn Inn.
The morning was looking a little frightful when a downpour blew through town a little before noon. But after the storm passed, we were graced with a beautiful spring day, so their outdoor ceremony was a go.
From the moment we arrived at the Inn, Erin was eager to see her groom. While she was relaxed and happy, I’ve never seen a bride get ready so fast. We were able to bump up the first look by a whole half hour — I very rarely get to say that!
We shot Erin + Bob’s sweet and sunny first look in the garden behind the venue. After that we were off and running, chasing down cute kids in hoop skirts and tiny suits for the bridal party portraits, and climbing around in the bushes to get just the right angle. It was really important to the two of them to spend as much time as possible with their friends and family at the reception, so we made sure to shoot everything on the portrait list before the ceremony–even family photos.
Erin + Bob were fun and relaxed all day, and once the dance floor was open it was always easy to find Erin — cutting a rug with her bridesmaids.
Stick around for until the end — I have lost count of how many weddings I’ve photographed at the The William Penn Inn, and the night shot in the front window is easily the most requested photo there. I’ve tried it many, many ways, but it wasn’t until Erin + Bob that I FINALLY got it exactly right.
